Are Alzheimer and dementia hallucinations glimpses into the spiritual realm?

It is safe to assume without having been there, the end-of-life period of a person’s life creates a thinning of the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds, as it’s often reported by the dying seeing relatives who have passed on.
Individuals involved in energy healing work who have a bit of knowledge about the energy centers/chakras of the human body will know how each chakra is more active at different stages of life. Although there are many energy conduits in the body known as meridians, there are seven main energy centers where most energy workers concentrate their attention on.
The Root Chakra is the closest to earth, as such it is formed during the first seven years of a person’s life. This center is located at the base of the spine. Without getting into a lesson on chakras—as we go up the spine—we find the third-eye chakra located in the middle of the forehead slightly above eyebrow level.
Third-Eye Opening—A Spiritual Rite of Passage
Anyone who’s gone through the awakening of their third-eye or what is also known as the spiritual eye, understands there’s possibility of immense trauma when this occurs, especially if it happens spontaneously. Considered a rite of passage for many spiritual scholars, having the third-eye open often leads to what some call the “Dark Night of the Soul.” For someone who’s never heard of such a phenomenon, or is from a time when such things were not discussed, having their third-eye open could spell disaster.
Imagine the shock and disturbance an older person who’s never heard of the psychic realm might feel if their third-eye opened abruptly, or if they’re part of a religious indoctrination that condemns such activity.
Normally, the third-eye chakra will not develop to be active unless there is an interest in such pursuits. However, it is not uncommon for people to have it open at a certain point in their lives. As a person advances in age, and the connection to Spirit becomes stronger in preparation for eventual transition to spirit form, the third-eye chakra may be activated.
In late stages dementia and Alzheimer, patients report seeing such things as flashing lights, people, pets, or other forms that are not physically present. All the senses may be involved in these dis-eases as well. Some of the inflicted report hearing things. In the psychic realm this would be the extra-sensory perception called clairaudience, whereas seeing spirit is called clairvoyance.
Spiritual Aspect of Health Missing in Western Medicine
For those of us with spiritual senses awakened, it might not be too far-fetched to entertain the idea that perhaps there’s more going on in the brains of those suffering from these diseases that conventional medicine can’t comprehend or explain. At the risk of creating controversy, I had to put this out there, although it is probably not news for people who’ve witnessed end of life events or work in hospices.
Even though there may not be any medical textbooks documenting these possibilities, it is nonetheless quite true that the spiritual is enmeshed with the physical world. Unfortunately—here in the Western world—there’s been a serious disconnection from the spiritual aspect when examining symptoms.
Reiki Practitioners Extend Extraordinary Care
The practice of Reiki involves—above all else—working with the spiritual aspect of wellness. Reiki practitioners have a connection to Spirit. Additionally, a great majority of Reiki practitioners and energy healers have developed spiritual senses, or what some people refer to as supernatural powers.
Reiki practitioners can extend extraordinary compassionate care to those dealing with the frightening afflictions of Alzheimer and dementia.
Practitioners should be open to the very real possibility late-stage symptoms of Alzheimer and dementia involving the senses are actually spiritual in nature. Having someone there who empathises with what Alzheimer and dementia sufferers are going through, that is able to bridge the gap between the spiritual and physical worlds may bring a bit of comfort to all involved. In such cases, energy healing excels in providing care complementary to conventional medicine, as it looks beyond the dimension of the physical.
Some cultures believe preparing for the after-world is an important part of advanced age.
Helping souls transcend by showing compassion and understanding on this side, and offering a connection to the other side could have a profound healing effect on all levels.
