Emotional Health Includes Living With All Our Feelings

Giving ourself permission to feel the expanse of all our feelings is a major component of maintaining our emotional health and living well by keeping our energy moving.

We create our reality by the choices we make in each moment. It’s not to say there won’t ever be life circumstances that are beyond our control or comprehension, but how we react to these will not only determine how things play out, but they will define our character.

A common misconception that’s actually detrimental rather than helpful, is that we should always be in the happiest of moods. We are led to believe that what we perceive as negative feelings and emotions such as anger, sadness, frustration, etc. should not be experienced or expressed. Life is a constant ebb and flow. We won’t always experience smooth sailing. Life brings changes whether we’re ready or not. Anyone who’s somewhat advanced in experience or age will tell you that life was not always easy, and it is a learning experience. Life is often referred to as a school for good reason.

Not that we shouldn’t strive to be happy, joyful, and in appreciation as much as we can, but not allowing certain feelings is basically saying we are not to feel. Many of us have already been programmed to repress our emotions because we grew up being told to stop crying, or not to speak when we needed to. This created a belief that some feelings are not okay and should be avoided.

The result of withholding genuine expression creates blockages in our energy field and our physical body.

Let’s face it, none of us are perfect. No one is, and we don’t live in a perfect world. It’s absolutely normal to sometimes feel overwhelmed and anxious—and thus—react in not so appealing manners. It’s part of life, and these unpleasant characteristics actually help us understand other people’s reactions as well. It doesn’t mean we are wrong when we feel the not so appealing nature of our depth. It means we love ourself enough to bring these feelings to the surface rather than bury them where they will morph into negative beliefs and patterns.

So, go ahead, feel what you feel and then let it go if it is something that’s upsetting to you. Let it go and return to a more pleasant state as soon as you can. Staying in a lower vibration for too long will prolong negative feelings, and this is not the vantage point from which we want to experience life.

If our experiences and feelings are leaning too much on the low side and dragging us down, it’s time to look at how and what we need to change about ourself in order to rebalance and continue to expand and grow in our awareness and consciousness. We have a right to feel what we feel, but as we become more aware of our feelings, the ones we cultivate and bring forth will align with higher wisdom in choosing.

We will consciously choose for our benefit, and the highest good of all.
