New Reiki Precept Cultivates Peace Within

The practice of Reiki as we know it today was founded on five spiritual precepts. Precepts, unlike principles, are non-negotiable. Institute of Reiki affirms the five foundational precepts of Reiki as” TODAY I don’t worry; I am not angry; I honour all that ever was and is; I do my work honestly; and I am kind to every living thing.“

The practice of Reiki teaches us how to fully integrate the five precepts into our every day lives.

The more we connect with the Reiki precepts, the stronger they will resonate in our subconscious. Institute of Reiki has been guided to add the following precept to the practice of Reiki to take us back to harmony quickly, to easily uplift, and remind us of the five traditional precepts.

“Today, I am at peace,” we believe is another valuable precept to integrate. One moment at a time, we cultivate peace. This additional precept brings us to a place of acceptance and peace, and somehow encapsulates the five original precepts. When we are at peace, we are not angry, and we don’t worry. Anger effortlessly dissipates with peace, and worry can no longer take hold of the mind. When we are at peace, we’ve reconciled with everything and everyone in our past that have brought us to where we are today, and we appreciate all that is about the now. We naturally maintain and keep peace by working honestly. With understanding, we attract good back to us by living in integrity. Being kind to every living thing is part of our simple nature when we are, and live in harmony with the rest of the world.

Whenever there’s chaos, disturbance, discord, or any challenge or upset, remember to focus witin and bring peace.

Peace helps us release what we may be accustomed to hang on to such as beliefs, opinions, and judgements. Our perception becomes neutral and we live more in acceptance. As life as we know it will test our resolve and fortitude, we can easily return to peace within with intention and focus.

Bringing peace to our awareness helps relieve stress, and calms our autonomic nervous system. Maintaining a sense of peace for prolonged periods of time will benefit our overall health by keeping all our body’s systems operating optimally. This state will help us better cope and rebound faster in instances of illness and distress.

Being at peace guards our emotions from blowing out of proportion or taking on a life of their own. Peace eventually befalls onto all the runaway and mindless chatter. The mind is harnessed to keep and trust peace. The powerful state of peace rules.

When we discover this peace within us, we will want more than to visit there. We’ll want to stay longer—and in time—we’ll always choose to dwell there. We’ll be at peace with who we are. We’ll have made peace with the past. We won’t worry about the future. We’ll be at peace with everything that is.

Be at peace.

Today, I am at peace.
