It’s next to impossible to be happy without full participation in the moments of life. Life is busy for most people. It’s easy to be distracted from the moment.
Cultivating happiness starts by being present. People who are too much in their heads worrying about the future or rethinking the past have a more difficult time experiencing happiness. Psychologists have classified happiness as an emotion resulting from joy. Joy in the everyday affairs cultivates happiness.
When the mind is busy in anything other than what’s happening in the present moment, it robs a person of fully experiencing life. It is like only skimming the surface of what is going on and missing the point on what has happened. Everyone has done this while listening to someone or something, when all of a sudden, they realize they’ve missed the point.
Unfortunately, life has no rewind button. Once precious simple moments there to help bring happiness are in the past, they can’t be relived.
People do find joy here and there doing the things they enjoy throughout the day. It doesn’t mean they’re happy. However, happiness can be an established foundational emotion embodied by those who are fully present.
Happiness is described by some psychologists as a perception formed from our physiological state. It would then be hard to perceive happiness If people are not present. They won’t be able to perceive what’s happening physiologically if the mind is busy elsewhere..
How can you know what makes you happy if you are not fully present to experience it?
Are you happy?
Many individuals struggle with answering this simple question, “Are you happy?” It’s not something they’ve given themselves permission to ponder, let alone answer. It should be something everyone can answer easily in. a positive way. If you can’t ascertain you’re happy, you may be having difficulties living in the moment. It is only in the moment that happiness is experienced.
Joy is experienced without filters. It simply happens. Happiness follows much the same way. Happiness is actually regarded as a secondary emotion to joy. When we experience joy, we are happy.
Know what makes you happy
Begin by knowing what makes you happy. Reflect to discover what brings or has brought you joy. You can go as far back as when you were a child. Identify those things you do that escape time, when you lose track of time. They are the things you need to ensure you incorporate regularly in your life.
Granted there are always tasks that need tending to—but better yet—find joy in doing those tasks. There are many people who are unable to perform regular tasks. Taking care of what needs to be done clears the mind later on. Then, when you do make time for the things you enjoy, you won’t be stressed about what you didn’t get done. You’ll be fully present in those moments.
Be present while doing the things you enjoy is important if you want to be happy.
Cultivating happiness

Spend time with those you love. If you can’t be there in person, there are other ways to connect available to the majority of people worldwide. If someone you love has transitioned to the afterlife, imagine them beside you and communicate with them. They can hear you.
Foster feelings of gratitude. Be grateful for everything that has brought you to this moment.
Reiki is a great way to help people be more present. In bringing deep relaxation, the mind is quietened, and the person can be more conscious of the experience of that very moment. Another way Reiki helps people become more present, it puts people in touch with their spiritual essence. This long-forgotten aspect itself can cause disharmony and leave people feeling empty and unhappy, if they haven’t considered its importance in living a fulfilled life.
