Tis The Season Of Unconditional Love

For the people who celebrate Christmas, this time of year is when the spirit of unconditional love shines through the most. Disagreements and judgements of others are usually put aside and replaced with feelings of compassion and acceptance. If even for only the duration of the holidays, the mere fact unconditional love can be summoned during this holiday season is a testimonial to the ever-expanding force of unconditional love present in the heart of each and every one of us. 

The joy and magic of this end-of-year festive holiday season spills over to reach those who don’t celebrate Christmas and stirs up feelings of unconditional love. 

Letting go of ill-feelings towards others for any amount of time demonstrates an open heart. As difficult as it may seem for individuals unable to put their differences aside even for a short moment, the benefits of releasing these disempowering states are about liberation. Understandably, there’ll be times when the dust of certain disagreements has yet to settle, but it is not without reason challenges come around. Relationships can be very rewarding, but they can also be most challenging. In life, each difficulty encountered is an opportunity to learn and grow from, with relationships offering great lessons in unconditional love

Ways to keep an open heart of unconditional love this holiday season and beyond. 

Be consciously present

It’s easy to be stuck in the mind when immersed in the busy-ness of life especially during the holidays. Put the chatter mind to rest while you spend quality time with your family, friends, and colleagues. The to-do list or whatever may be weighing on your mind can wait.

Be present by listening, observing without judgement, and participating with others to make the time spent together memorable and enjoyable. Catch your mind when it starts to wander and bring it back to the present moment.

Sometimes the best gift you can give someone is your full presence. This should not be limited to holiday times. 

Send love

If there’s someone in your life you’ve been at odds with or unable to forgive for whatever reason, make a conscious choice to send them love if you can’t bring yourself to reach out. This simple act of you sending love to them creates new energy to bring harmony and flow. What you do to others, you do to yourself. Regardless of how you feel about someone or a particular situation, letting go of any disharmony benefits your wellness and wellbeing.

Disharmony and hardship seem to abound in the world for many people, so taking a moment to send love and peace to those otherwise unreachable helps foster compassion. Not compassion in the way of “I feel sorry for you,” but rather as “May the Iove I am sending bring you feelings of comfort.”

The needs of the less fortunate are brought forth and highlighted, and the requests for donations of time, money, and expertise grow in this time regarded as the season of giving. What you send out comes back to you. Simply sparing a bit of time to be with, or listen to another can brighten theirs and your hearts.

If you don’t know anyone personally who could use financial assistance—and you’re able to—consider donating e to a local, national, or international organization dear to your heart. Holiday periods cause extra strain on individuals and organizations who are already struggling. There are many non-profit organizationsdoing great work on behalf of those in need. If you donate financially to unknown solicitations, please do your research to ensure your donations go where they will have the most impact. Avoid donating to large overhead organizations if possible. 

Extending unconditional love to other living beings doesn’t have to be a stretch. It can come naturally when you stay mindful and make the conscious choice of being a loving person no matter what This is the way of the heart-led people who bring love into others’ lives. If the holidays evoke in you feelings that are less than gratitude, remember to reconnect with your true nature of unconditional love.
