Why Alternative Medicine Complements Western Medicine

The two significant differences between alternative medicine and Western medicine are that complementary or alternative medicine offers natural approaches to healing and considers the whole in treatment.

After a long period of overwork and being driven beyond the capacity of providing quality service, it seems the Western medicine sector has geared down.

Shifting Healthcare Roles

The days of doctors and nurses pushing themselves to no limits are becoming fewer and fewer. Following decades of overload in patient care obligations, there’s now a shift to quality care rather than quantity. The new generation of doctors and their assistants must have learned from their previous counterparts, that although one time regarded as noble, overextending oneself is a recipe for burn-out and stress.

Although this has been coming for quite some time, the recent pandemic may have helped some of these professionals rethink their approach to work. It’s the tip of the iceberg as to what will be revamped in this overtaxed system. There’ll be pushback from companies built on extended care, but it’s the general population that will eventually bring about the decline of outdated health care systems.

Doctors are redefining their roles. At the general population level, individual awareness is growing as people are making better choices in regard to their health and wellness. The onus is back on each person to take good care of their own health. As the popularity of alternative medicine grows in the West, the burden on conventional medicine will diminish.

Resurgence in natural therapies

The fragmented co-dependent care system we’ve all grown accustomed to here in the West is now shifting to bring focus to the whole of what makes up a person.

Natural medicines, such as plant medicine, discarded long ago by populations looking for a quick fix, are now in resurgence as people are looking for natural alternatives. Ancient approaches will prove useful in the treatment of new and old conditions.

Energy medicine such as Reiki will have a major role in helping push forward the shift towards natural alternatives.

Reiki Integration Benefits

Reiki helps bring focus back to the importance of each individual. Now practiced in numerous US hospitals, Reiki is helping patients better cope with their circumstances and recover quicker by bringing relaxation and raising awareness to the inner being. Quality care is often a determinant of successful outcomes, especially for those who are most vulnerable. Incorporating the practice of Reiki into Western treatment establishments is part of comprehensive healing on all levels.

It stands to reason to assume the gains of such integration will far surpass the ramifications of not moving forward with more integrative care. Evolution appears to have forced the hands of many to step back and take a look at what works and what doesn’t. The healthcare system is not exempt of this since it’s been the most stressed in recent years.

All Is Inter-related

If root causes of issues are not transformed, this energy creates repetitive patterns. It is no secret or coincidence that certain illnesses are related to each other. Gradually people are catching up to this reality, and they want to take ownership of their own health. We wouldn’t rely on others to fix our problems, nor should we think health care workers can fix our health. They can surely help and they do, but health requires participation.

Natural alternative medicines like Reiki take us back within to rediscover who we are without all the outside stimuli and help reconnect the body, mind, and spirit. It’s from this wholeness point that we begin to truly understand what we are experiencing is who we are. We are much more than we have been led to believe.

Welcome the opportunity to delve deeper into what makes us human and how everything is interrelated. Tending to all of our aspects, not only the physical but the mental, the emotional, and the spiritual is the way of holistic healing. Energy medicine is an important component of integrative care.
